Stakes Classes:

I would like to thank the committee for the kind invitation to judge the Stakes classes, and also extend my thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me. Unfortunately the weather did not hold when it came time for my judging, which was disappointing. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment.

I was still presented with some lovely exhibits and a pleasing quality of dogs to go over, which made my task an enjoyable one. My thanks again to the committee for the opportunity and to the exhibitors for their support.

Special Yearling Stakes (9)

1st Lerego – Teckelgarth Manon. I really liked this bitch. Strong head with dark eyes and an intelligent expression. Muzzle just deep enough with correct bite and clean cheekbones. Ears set level with her eyes, reaching her nose when pulled forward with good hair coverage. Strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Well boned with large front feet. Good depth of chest with elbows tight to body, well sprung ribbing, broad back and short loin. Maintained her topline on the move with super hind angulation and good rear feet. Moved well covering the ground, although a little mischievous.

2nd Porter – Otteryx Cobweb. Another bitch of nice size with a balanced and proportional profile. Good bone and substance and similar in many respects to the winner. Not quite as filled out in ribbing and chest at present but still moved out well. Has time on her side.

3rd Lewis – Olphae Governor JW, dog. Very masculine and slightly larger but still in proportion.

Special Open Stakes (4,2)

1st Porter – Otteryx Chaos (AI). A bitch I have judged before. Strong head in proportion with dark eyes and an intelligent expression. Muzzle just deep enough with correct bite and clean cheekbones. Ears set level with the eyes, reaching the nose when pulled forward with good hair coverage. Strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Well boned with large front feet. Good depth of chest with elbows tight to body, well sprung ribbing and broad back, maintaining a level topline. Moderate hind angulation with good rear feet. Moved well.

2nd Tangye & Lewis – Olphae Faithful. Another nice bitch and similar in many respects to the winner. Just lost out on movement today as she was a little close behind, but still very pleasing to go over.

Special Members Stakes (8)

1st Lewis – Ch Olphae Charman VW, dog. Masculine head with dark eyes and an intelligent expression. Strong jaws with correct bite. Ears correctly set, reaching the nose when pulled forward. Strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders with good depth of chest. Ribbing of good length and a strong broad back. I would have preferred a little more rear angulation as he was not quite as extended on the move. He clearly enjoyed his day.

2nd Lerego – Teckelgarth Kalliope, bitch. Another quality exhibit from this kennel. I really liked her profile and movement. Good bone and sound construction, just not quite as animated today as when seen in her previous class.

3rd Salt & Stringer, Lerego – Ch Teckelgarth Ingot, dog. A worthy champion of quality.
