Judge: Mr Howard Ogden
My gratitude to Bath for giving me this opportunity to award my 1st set of Otterhound CCs & to all of you for your support & education over the years. This was a quality entry throughout with just 2 of the 14exhibits absent.
PGD (1,0) 1 Lewis’ Olphae Governor
JW; 22m; so sound & free moving; lovely head so correct in its proportions; distinct stop; clean cheeks; muzzle strong & deep & nose with functional wide nostrils; equally functional were his long, pendulous, ears with characteristic fold; long neck with well laid shoulders; deep, broad & level with oval ribcage; short loin; moderately angulated in rear; typically rough coated of broken appearance; great to watch on the move being so long striding on large feet; had noted him as “CC Quality ” that duly came to pass. Dog CC
OD (2,0) 1 Lerego’s Teckelgarth Musket; only 12m & a youngster full of breed type & quality; such a strong deep muzzle with a gd wide nose; long neck set into such well laid, clean, shoulders; contrasting moderate rear angulation; level & broad with depth & oval ribcage; rough coated; knew how to carry himself with that loose, long, stride; already showing so much potential for the top as marked with the Res Dog CC 2 Lewis’ Ch Olphae Charman VW; recently turned 8yrs; hence of a heavier build & carriage; skull nicely domed; clean cheeks; distinct stop; correct degree of muzzle that was strong & deep; textbook ears with fold; body deep with plenty of heart & lung room; rough coated; moderate hind angulation; large round feet; gd stern; harsh broken jacket; just didn’t stride out as effectively.
VB (1,0) 1 Porter’s Ottaryx Quinevere VW; rising 8yrs; v gd head type with nicely domed skull, distinct stop & a strong, deep muzzle; long neck & clean shoulders if a little narrow fronted; rough, broken, jacket; deep chest just lacking some condition over her loin; undeniably physically fit, gaiting at a long striding gallop. BVIB
PB (1,0) 1 Lerego’s Teckelgarth Nesta (ai) NAF; 11m that I marked as “classy”; so correct in head type & proportions; long pendulous ears with fold; long neck into well laid shoulder; oval ribcage with ribs carried well back; rough coated; moderate rear angulation with hind legs perpendicular from hock to ground moving typically loose & parallel with an active & long stride on large round feet. BPIB
JB (1,0) 1 Lerego’s Teckelgarth Manon; 12m litter sister to Dog CC & another I marked as “classy”; ex head that was not too broad with a curving skull & relatively brickshaped as opposed to square; deepset, tight, eye & functionally long ears with fold; correctly sloping shoulder blade sloping inwards so as to hug her oval ribcage; deep, level & relatively short; broken coated; tapering tail with thick base; well let down parallel hocks breaking into a sound & active trot with notable stride. Reserve Bitch CC
PGB (4,1) 1 Porter’s Ottaryx Chaos (ai) JW; 20m of self-evident quality; ex type & shape; clean cheeked; strong deep muzzle with correct degree of length from distinct stop; correctly contrasting forehand angulation from that in the rear; oval ribcage; nothing narrow about her with a broad back & short loin: rough & broken coat; parallel hocks with a loose, v long, stride; she may be barely out of her teens but her future is assured & should be rapidly moving up the ranks. 2 Lerego, Oakley & Rauter’s Teckelgarth Muse; only 13m so much more raw & less “finished”; clean cheeked & expressive head; would prefer a better laid shoulder; correctly moderate rear & degree of croup; rough broken jacket; somewhat unsettled on the move that I feel sure was simply “on the day”; plenty of time on her side to come together in both mind & body. 3 Hansford & Donnelly’s Olphae Graceful With Peregos
LB (2,0) 1 Larego, Naish & Cook’s Teckelgarth Little Limpet (ai); recently turned 2yrs & litter sister to the ultimate Bitch CC; unsurprising therefore that she displayed such great breed type; ideal head shape being deep rather than wide; deep set, tight, eye; scenting ears being long, pendulous & with breed characterist fold; strong deep muzzle with wide nostrils; long neck; ex shoulder; strongly bodied & relatively short, level & broad throughto a correct croup; rough coated; ex stern; parallel hocks well let down & enabled a driving trot with long strides; clearly of CC quality in her own right. 2 Porter’s Ottaryx Cobweb (ai); 20m litter sister to PGB; less “ready” than the above being narrower through & lacking some condition over her ribs; such a gd clean head set off by her length of neck; perfectly gd structure & level with gd bone & feet; correct limited rear angulation; just awaiting maturity, being barely out of her teens, to better match her sibling.
OB (2,1) 1 Larego & Single-Bloom’s Teckelgarth Le Lakme (ai); recently turned 2yrs & had all I was looking for & that I believe has been hammered into me education wise over the years; I’m looking to cheat a bit here by saying the critique of her LB sibling equally applies to her without the need for me to individually repeat it; short backed given that the distance between her withers & croup is allbut equal to her height from ground to withers; she demonstrated the gait of this energy saving hunter that is ungainly & shambling with functional roll from side to side yet exceptionally long striding at the gallop & with her head, topline & stern all in a line. Bitch CC & BOB
